Part 3: Applying finish...

Now that things are constructed, it's time to finish the oak. My original plan was to stain the oak blue to match corporate colors but the gel stain was so thick it looked more like paint. I tried a few variations but I wasn't really satisfied with any of them so I just skipped it and went straight to polyurethane. The interesting part is that clear polyurethane causes a considerable color shift in the oak. I've included a few shots below:
