Job description
Are you a frontend developer who wants to do more than build another marketing website or CRUD app? We're building a next-generation distributed operating system for a major Fortune 100 client. Our stack is Linux + Java + React. We've built extensive tooling, ported to half a dozen hardware platforms, and published an extensive SDK for external developers. We recently built a custom beverage dispenser from scratch – including a custom circuit board and 3D-printed parts – just to exercise our software stack.
What You'll Be Working On – You'll join our team as a frontend developer contributing to a React/TypeScript SDK platform that powers touchscreen applications on connected embedded devices, including dispensers. Your work will be used by third-party development partners to build real, deployed experiences – meaning you're building for developers as much as end users.
Who Should Apply – New grads with a strong portfolio and genuine curiosity who are interested in meaningful, technically interesting work on a platform used in the real world, as well as direct mentorship from a senior architect with 30 years of experience and 15+ years in React/TypeScript, all the while working with a small team where your contributions are visible and your voice matters. Intermediate developers (2–5 years of experience) with production React/TypeScript experience are an ideal fit. If you've built something you're proud of - a side project, an open-source contribution, a polished portfolio piece – we want to see it. That said, you should bring:
Requirements
Solid foundation in React and TypeScript - you don't need to be a 10-year veteran, but you should be comfortable in a typed codebase and care about API design
Curiosity about how things work under the hood - our platform sits at the intersection of web tech and embedded Linux, familiar but different enough to be interesting.
Strong communication skills - we're a small, senior team, and clear communication goes a long way
Bonus points if you have experience with monorepo tooling (NX, Turborepo), Web Components, component library authoring, or interest in IoT or embedded systems.
Responsibilities
Day-to-day work includes building and maintaining UI SDK components, contributing to a developer tooling platform, and collaborating on a design system purpose-built for embedded environments.
Build, maintain, and document React/TypeScript SDK components designed for use by third-party developers on embedded touchscreen devices
Contribute to a developer-facing tooling platform, including APIs, configuration surfaces, and DX improvements
Collaborate on a design system purpose-built for constrained embedded environments (limited screen size, performance budgets, input constraints)
Partner with a senior architect to make API design decisions that balance flexibility for partners with consistency across the SDK
Write and maintain component documentation and usage examples to support third-party developer adoption
Contribute to testing strategies appropriate for embedded UI (unit, integration, and potentially device-level testing)
Engage with third-party development partners to understand how the SDK is being used in the wild and feed that back into the platform
